WMFC School Age Programs

Out of School Care

                        August to June

                Monday through Friday

          Students in Grades K - 12 yrs

                    6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

WMFC is the place to be before and after school for students in grades K-12! Bullock Creek School District provides daily bus transportation for students to and from Floyd Elementary School or Bullock Creek Middle School so they can participate in a number of  wonderful before and after school activities at the Center.

Once students arrive at the Center, they can participate in a variety of activities some of which include crafts, recreation, S.T.E.A.M activities and guest speakers! Special guests from area agencies provide fun, educational opportunities and unique experiences for school age students. In addition, children are taught positive action lessons which are designed to develop and instill positive social behaviors, such as non- bullying and playing fair!

WMFC strongly believes that education should not end at school. As a result, students have a time each day that is specifically set aside for homework and assisted reading. If a child needs extra help or assistance in their school work, WMFC staff members are proactive in finding the help that is needed.

WMFC Summer Program

West Midland Family Center provides a high-quality, affordable, state licensed summer program. Children who have completed preschool through 8th grade, are invited to join us each summer for an exciting experience filled with nature and outdoor activities, recreation, swimming and learning through S.T.E.A.M.(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). S.T.E.A.M. introduces children to concepts and techniques that help them to comprehend new skills through creative and stimulating experiences. (There are volunteer opportunities for high school students, as well.)

The WMFC Summer Program begins in June and ends in August. The program meets three or four days per week. Families interested in the WMFC Summer Program must complete and submit a WMFC Summer Program Interest Form. Interest forms are available through the WMFC Welcome Center. Scholarships are available for all families. Limited transportation services are only provided to and from summer program.

In addition to the daytime summer program for children, WMFC also offers fun family activities and parent education opportunities throughout the week. Activities include family fun nights, parent education groups, playgroups and other offerings all designed with our families in mind.

Limited BEFORE and AFTER care is also available for an additional fee. For questions regarding the WMFC Summer Program, please contact Leigha McLaughlin, Out of School Time Supervisor at (989) 832-3256 or mclaughlinl@wmfc.org
